Analog VoIP Gateways

Convert Voice Media to VoIP Connections

Analog VoIP gateways are small stand-alone appliances which allow you to convert voice media between FXO and FXS connections and VoIP connections. They are the most cost-effective solution for businesses with a legacy phone system infrastructure which needs to connect to a VoIP network, such as a SIP trunk. They are also great for businesses that have an IP-based phone system and need to connect legacy equipment to their IP network, such as analog phones, traditional fax machines, and the PSTN for emergency fallback.

All you need to do is place the VoIP gateway at the edge of your network, plug in your existing internet connection to the gateway for VoIP connectivity and the analog cables from your phone system or legacy equipment and the gateway will automatically handle everything to allow voice media to simply work, including fax.

Two types of analog gateways:

  • FXS Gateways are analog gateways fitted with FXS ports which help you connect legacy telephones and analog phone systems to IP telephony networks.
  • FXO Gateways are analog gateways fitted with FXO ports which help you connect analog telephone lines to your IP-based phone system or help you connect your legacy phone system network to a VoIP network or SIP trunk.

Analog Gateways are Best For:

  • SIP Trunking for Legacy PBX: Businesses who want to connect to a SIP trunking service and have a PBX with PSTN interfaces can simply connect the PSTN interfaces (PRI or analog lines) from the phone system to the gateway ports for seamless connectivity.
  • Emergency Fallback for VoIP: Businesses who want to provide emergency fallback to their VoIP network can connect the PSTN telco lines to the FXO ports for automatic fallback routing if your VoIP network goes down.
  • Connect Analog Devices to VoIP: Businesses who have analog phones and/or fax machines and want to seamlessly connect to their VoIP phone system network, such as schools, hotels, apartment buildings, and military with large infrastructure of analog phones can connect to IP-PBX, eliminating the need to replace any hardware or cabling.
  • PSTN trunking for IP-based Phone System: Businesses with an IP-based network who need to connect to the local PSTN provider can simply connect a LAN port from the phone system to the analog gateway and the other end to the provider.
