Norman Worthington, Chief Executive Officer
Norman Worthington is a serial entrepreneur/investor and founder or co-founder of more than a dozen companies. One of Norman's earliest ventures was Software Toolworks, one of the first highly successful consumer software companies. Several of the original Software Toolworks titles are among the all-time best-selling products in their categories, including Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing! and the Chessmaster series. These titles are still available today, and each has sold tens of millions of copies. Software Toolworks became a public company in the early 90s and was subsequently purchased and taken private. It was acquired by Mattel in 1999.
In 1993, Norman entered a joint venture with Computer Associates (CA), the world’s 4th largest software company. The joint venture developed and successfully launched the world's first Enterprise Application Integration system. This product, called Opal, integrated the back office systems of Fortune 1000 companies and made the information accessible over the Internet. It was used by Wal-Mart, among many others, as the backbone of their hugely successful supply-chain extension strategy in the late 90s. Opal was the featured product of CA’s 1995 annual report. In 1996, CA purchased Norman's interest in the joint venture.
Norman received his bachelor of arts from New College of Florida and a law degree from Northwestern School of Law, Lewis & Clark College. Since 1997, he has acted as investor, advisor and board member for many technology-based startup companies.
Joseph Rhem, President
Joseph Rhem is responsible for running sales at Star2Star Communications. Joseph has revolutionized several new technologies and founded many successful high tech firms in his career. Most recently, Joseph held the position of global principal architect for Wireless Technologies at Computer Associates (CA), the world's 4th largest software company. Joseph also ran the CA Worldwide Information Management Advanced Technology Group, reporting to CA co-founder and board member Russ Artzt. During this time, Joseph re-engineered the B2B integration for the Wal-Mart supply chain to run over the Internet.
In 2003, Joseph co-founded Highwall Technologies and patented the long range wireless security sensor known as the Highwall Sentinel. In 2001, he co-founded Voyage Data Corporation, a successful wireless platform application development firm. In 1996, he founded Mindwave Technologies and sold within a year to a subsidiary of CA.
Joseph has a degree in information and computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. While attending college, he founded Summit Software Corporation, which was one of the first document imaging and laser disk storage solutions on the market.
Randy Richardson, Chief Operating Officer
Randy Richardson is responsible for running the day-to-day operations at Star2Star, including the development of all internal and customer facing technologies. He previously held CIO positions at multi-channel retail chains Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor, Best Buy and Talbots. He also served as product manager at CA, the world’s 4th largest software company.
Prior to joining Star2Star, Randy was founder and CEO of BridgeFive Solutions, a boutique software company that developed Customer Contact Management (CCM) systems, providing unique opportunities for the small to midsize business to take advantage of technologies traditionally available only to large businesses and call centers. Star2Star Communications acquired the company in 2010.
Gary Arnold, Chief Financial Officer
Gary Arnold is responsible for all of the financial operations of Star2Star. Gary is a CPA with more than 30 years’ experience in corporate finance, treasury, accounting and tax. He also has extensive experience with mergers, acquisitions and divestiture transactions. Gary began his career with KPMG, a large international accounting firm, and later served as an executive officer of several well-known public companies, including Boston Scientific Corporation, Sunbeam Corporation, and Harcourt Brace & Company. Gary’s career experience includes two successful IPOs, a management-led LBO, and over 60 mergers and acquisitions of both public and privately-held companies ranging in size from $2 million to $550 million in revenues. Gary played a key strategic role in negotiating and closing a $3 billion leveraged recapitalization transaction, which at the time was the largest transaction of this nature in Wall Street history. Additionally, he was directly responsible for negotiating, structuring and closing the sale of a major division of a public company to another public company for a sales price of $1.1 billion.
In addition to his role at Star2Star, Gary serves as managing director of a Florida-based venture capital firm and has served on the board of directors and audit committee of a public company, and as a director of three privately-held companies.
Michelle Accardi, Chief Marketing Officer
Michelle Accardi is an award-winning marketer and author of Agile Marketing. Michelle is responsible for leading Star2Star’s overall marketing strategy and integrated marketing initiatives including corporate marketing, digital marketing and product marketing. Previously, Michelle was head of digital marketing at Computer Associates. In this role, she led the company’s extensive digital and social transformation.
An accomplished 20-year marketing veteran, Michelle is a world-renowned technical thought leader on next-generation marketing and communications strategies. She brings to Star2Star substantial executive-level and tech industry experience having driven innovative, agile, revenue-producing corporate, digital, product, field and channel marketing programs for one of the world's most relied upon technology companies.
In 2011, Michelle published the de-facto book on Agile Marketing, which chronicled her experiences applying agile methodology to the marketing process for better results and faster time to value. In 2009, she was named to the Gulf Coast Business Review’s 40 under 40, and in 2008 she was recognized by South Florida Business Journal as Woman Who Means Business for South Florida. Michelle holds an MBA from American Intercontinental University and earned a bachelor's degree from University of South Florida.
Kristian Kielhofner, Co-Chief Technology Officer
Kristian Kielhofner is responsible for the design and implementation of Star2Star's VoIP services. Kristian is very active in the Asterisk community and is the creator, maintainer and lead developer of AstLinux, a very compact Linux distribution designed for embedded devices. With over 85,000 users worldwide, AstLinux has quickly grown in popularity since its creation in 2004. Kristian has contributed to several books published by O'Reilly media. He is also a frequent speaker at VoIP and Open Source related events.
Before joining Star2Star, Kristian was president of KrisCompanies, a consulting company serving clients on six continents.
Sergey Galchenko, Co-Chief Technology Officer
Sergey Galchenko brings to Star2Star over fifteen years of executive level experience in VoIP technology companies. Sergey was a key technology leader in two successful VoIP startups, and spent last two years in a corporate environment. Sergey brings to the table a wide range of hands-on experience in VoIP, networking and enterprise technologies, as well as an expertise in business process design and improvement.
Graham D. Potter, Chief Product Officer
Graham D. Potter’s responsibilities cut across virtually all of Star2Star’s business operations. Graham is responsible for the product release management process within the company, including competitive analysis, product planning, positioning, branding and product launches. He is the creator of Star2Star's acclaimed training program, as well as the majority of the company's user guides, how-to guides, and video tutorials. Graham brings extensive traditional telecom expertise and understanding to Star2Star.
A native of the UK, Graham has more than 40 years’ experience delivering exemplary service and support to customers and technology partners around the globe. He has led highly effective service organizations for such companies as British Telecom, Aspect Telecommunications, SDX Business Systems (acquired by Lucent/Avaya), and Rockwell FirstPoint Contact. During his tenure leading the customer service organization at Rockwell, his team won awards from Pelorus Research and Contact Center World as a global winner of Best After Sales Service.
William M. Rogers, Member of the Board of Directors and Government Contract Officer
William Rogers is the Founder, Chairman, President and CEO of Teleco, Inc. as well as a member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of National Accounts and Government Account Relationships.
Rogers has also worked with numerous other companies including American Phone Centers Inc., where he was the Founder and Chairman of the Board, Real Estate Unlimited, LLC, where he was Investor and Managing Member, Omnicall, LLC, where he was Founder and Chairman of the Board, and Corporate Telemanagement Group, LLC, where he was an Investor and the Co-Founder. He also founded Rogers Stereo, Inc., which he left in 1982.
He graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Education in 1969 and received his Masters Degree in Business Education from Hofstra University in 1973.
Colin Johnston, Executive Vice President, Sales
Colin Johnston is Star2Star’s executive vice president of Sales for North America. Mr. Johnston has executive responsibility for growing Star2Star’s sales revenue and building strategic relationships within the channel. Colin’s proven track record of revenue growth has been recognized with 2 consecutive Inc. 500 awards, and his channel expertise and strong partnering abilities align perfectly with Star2Star’s strategic direction. A seasoned veteran of the telecom and technology industries, Mr. Johnston has more than 23 years of sales and business development experience. Mr. Johnston joined Star2Star shortly after the company’s inception, and he has led the way for Star2Star’s phenomenal growth since his arrival.
Most recently, Mr. Johnston served as president at HighTech Telecom. Earlier in his career, Mr. Johnston served as VP of Sales and Business Development for CTI Telecom in Reston, VA. He also has held senior sales management positions at ALT Communications, Lucent Technologies, and Octel Communications.
